[RE]- Yea it is a real sport

So i was looking through class blogs and I found this post :

     LOL i just made a post about this XD, anyways hi Chris I respectfully disgree with you because although badminton is not very televised here, it is in other areas in countries like China, and Malaysia.The sport is played by lots of individuals there, and if you actually try to play competitively the sport changes completly  it becomes more fast paced, and you have to run a lot more, I know this because i thought the same as you once and after starting to play competitively i saw the sport in a whole different way. I know i may sound really wordy right now its just because i want to get more words down haha.
     Anyways the sport is in the Olympics so thats one reason why its an actual sport, furthermore if you try searching up videos on youtube or something and find an actual competitive game it is really amazing how fast they can play. If you watch the singles players play they may make it seem easy but when you get on the actual court and try doing the actual footwork it is a lot more harder trust me I've tried it.Anyways you can still think what you like i just for one needed something to write about and two hope to have changed you're opinion.

       Badminton is a very popular sport in areas such as China, Malaysia, and even the United Kindgom. In China, badminton is basically the basketball over there; yea, it is that popular. Anyways, I played football my freshman year of high school and then switched to badminton the following year. Now I'm getting a load of crap from everyone about playing badminton and how it’s a "girl's sport" and what not; heck some of them didn’t even consider it a sport. It really pisses me off how people can just judge people and a sport like that. I’m sure half- no, all of them haven't even played the sport. If you ever get to see competitive badminton, it is a quick paced, exhausting game. For example, during a singles match, the players who know what they are doing make the footwork and playing seem easy, but in reality it’s exhausting. Trust me. I've tried it.  It's amazing how people can just simply judge things like this these days. Haven't people ever heard the phrase, "Don't judge a book by its cover?" Yea, same thing applies here.
           For people who do not believe that badminton is a real sport, it may not be as popular here, but in areas outside the United States like China, Japan, and Malaysia, badminton is huge over there. It is widely televised and lots of people play it. Even though it may not seem much here, it is in other countries.

[FREE]-Capitalism

              Earlier today my English teacher Mr. Sutherland thought he'd try to convince us one last time that we (the class our generation) were getting fucked over by the government. He ended up showing us "Capitalism a love Story". After watching that I was in utter shock, because our government at the moment is basically run by multi million dollar industries who are greedy and made people’s lives miserable by making money off of them. Our poverty rates are rising more and more, the line between low and high class and slowly disappearing along with the middle class. For example PA Child Care in Mulksberry, Pennsylvania has one of the most corrupt systems I have ever seen.  They took closed down their public juvenile hall, and built an eight million dollar private one, and sold it back to the county at fifty-eight million dollars. Mulksberry has the highest rate of juvenile locked up in the juvenile homes.
             In the movie, the children did minor crimes such as smoking pot, fighting at shopping malls, and even fighting at the dinner table. They basically first hand experienced Capitalism. “Time is money”. Robert Powell cut a deal with Judge Chiverella; he then kicked up his conviction rates. Why? So they could get more money into their greedy pockets. By doing this Chiverella received 2.6 million dollars, and the owners of PA Child Care received 10’s of millions of tax payer dollars from the county. Thus just like that 6,500 children were wrongly convicted. They basically paid the judges to keep their stupid cells filled.

[BC]-Living Life to the fullest

     Steve Jobs who you may have heard recently passed on Octovober 5,2011 away due to cancer. jobs was a man who made a massive innovational impact on the world through his inventions in technology. I recently read a quote by Job's presented to me by my english teacher. "Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the best choices in life"-Steve Jobs in a speech in 2005. I respectfully disagree with this statement althought it is a certainly good way to make choices. I disagree because when ever I must make a difficult life choice I never thought that I would not be around one day. Usuall when making a difficult choice I would consider the outcome of the situation, and how it would affact me and others around me, before making an actual choice
     I'm not saying that Job's advice is incorrect, I'm sure there are individuals out there who know they are going to die one day and live everyday of their lives to the fullest. "Becuase almost everything-all external exceptions, all pride, all fear or embarrassment or failure-these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important"-also by Steve Jobs in a 2005 speech. I agree with this part of the advice though becuase all the things about pride, embaressment, etc. goes away with you when you finally "kick the bucket". For instance, when an individual does something embraessing the individuals around him/her usually just remember the event for a ceratin amount of time.
    My advice to people that would help them "make big life choices" is that when making ur choice always think about how this affects themselves, the others around them, and how they would react to their choice. Why do I believe this? Because for one this is what my parents keep telling me so I'm assuming its good advice, and two because this way the individual kind of "looks to the future" and know what the consequences might be in making that choice.  Furthermore, the individual would have a less likely chance of regretting the choice they have made. 
     If I started to follow the advice Steve suggested like tomrrow,or anytime in the near or distant future, I don't know what would happen. So everything I am saying please take with a grain of salt becuase I have not tried using Job's advice therefore i do not know if it is better than mine or not (basically i have a biased opinion). Then again I'm only 15 high schooler still living with his parents, and he owned a multibillion dollar company, so Job probably knows what he is talking about. If I did start to follow the advice though i have a rough idea of how that would turn out for me. I would try to do everything in one day and get extrremly tired extremly fast, which kind of sucks. Remeber I have not tried this advice yet so don't take my word for it. Thus ends the rant lol...

P.S. I know this seems like a really random post, my englisht teacher made me write this LOL XD

[RE]- Poverty

I was looking through blog posts when i came across this written by a fellow student as well
This video came as a surprise to me because I never knew that the poverty levels were so high in the United States. 
 I agree with that statement after watching that video, because it does come to a surprise to me that our economy has become so low. More than 46 million people are in poverty in the united States, i never thought it as that bad sure i knew the economy was pretty bad but i never knew that it stemmed this low. This is evidence that the government has to get involved with the people in poverty and help them through this time of need. As said in the blog, some people are barley making ends meet, the stress they must be under everyday to work all day get a couple hours of sleep and then go back to work, day after day. Poverty has become a huge issue since 1993, and has been rising. In 2008 13.2 percent (39.8 million people) of Americans lived in poverty, it rose again in 2009 to 14.6 percent( 43.6 million people). Then in 2011 last month on September 13, 2011 the United States Census Bureau announced that 15.1 percent (46 million people) of Americans are living in poverty.
     Obviously a trend is beginning to grow, thus it is evident that we need to get the government in on this but the government  has other things on its plate at the moment so i don't know if they will have the time to consider this. The gap between the rich and the poor is continually growing year after year, so if we dont do anything soon it could turn for the worse.

I was looking through Current Events and I found this article, and this
An angry China warned Washington on Tuesday that passage of a bill aimed at forcing Beijing to let its currency rise could lead to a trade war between the world’s top two economies.
     China warns the United States of a possible trade war if they go through with the bill allowing china's curruncy, the yuan,  to rise in value. Apparently China has been under valueing their currency, the yuen is actually 15to 40 percent below its actually value.They keep their the value of the yuen low by buying US dollars in the open market. By buying dollars off the market they keep the demand of the dollars high. Thus keeping the value of the dollar high, and the value of the yuen low.
     So the question here is why would china want to undervalue their currency? Well first of all to be fair to china, almost all countries undervalue or manipulate their currency. Anyways apparently china likes to keep the value of their yuen low because this way it helps exporters pocket more money. For example, (this is the example from another article) If one dollar buys 7 yuans and an exporter sells a shirt from china for ten dollars he would pocket 70 yuans, while if one dollar was to buy five yuans, the exporter would only pocket 50 yuans. Therefore it is obvious why china does not want their value in the yuen going up. If the United States would allow the yuen to increase in value the exporters would not pocket as much money, which would probably mess with their economy.

[FREE]-Can we live without Technology??

      Technology has become a primary part of our lives from devices such as a small cellphones to a laerge telivision. It has become the first "go to" for entertainment and is abundantly used everyday. Now the question is: can we survive/live without technology? Have we become so dependent on it that we can not live without it? Lets face it technology has created a simplier, more convinient life for us. We can contact anyone in the world in a matter of seconds, travel to far places faster than ever, and even have instant information at will because of the internet.
     I believe that we coud live without technology, it would just make our everyday lives much harder and more inconvient of course. It could even make our lives more dangerous infact. Without windows, heaters, houses we'd be out in the open vulnerable to cold, and even predators. Furthermore, our form of entertainment would switch from electronics to possiblly sports. Bassically we would be forced to get off our lazy ass and actually do something benificial to our health(I am kidding i know there are athletic people out there, this is a joke).
     Even though technology itself is great and all, we have many uses for it, but are we becoming top dependant on it? For example, children these days are using calculators to do most of their math for them. Why? because technology has also made us lazy. We should have a back up plan in case something does actually happen. For instance computers, televisions, cellphones, etc runs on electricity. What happens when the power generators blows, or something unfortunate happens and we are left powerless for days, months? What would we do? So what I'm basically trying to say here is that we should keep using technology, but we should not rely fully on it.
